
IAA Bus and Truck Show unveiled the Volvo 7700 hybrid in Germany. It was termed as an ‘eco-exiting’ bus rather than exciting. The bus is a 30% fuel effecient hybrid as compared to other non-hybrid cars.
The environmental friendly bus is a parallel hybrid ensuring that the diesel powered engine and the electric motor combine together to start the bus.
Some of the benefits offered from this hybrid include the highly efficient motors which are capable of accelerating the bus to 20 km/hr with silent take-offs and quick stand-stills, there is reduced emission levels of CO2 and 40% reduction of Nox. The cost buses are easily available in the market with most of them being sold in various countries like Luxemborg, Switzerland, Norway and Austria.
There are also auxiliary services provided by the Volvo 7700 such as 24/7 help with the Volvo Action Service, refurbishment of an older vehicle type and so on.
