In today’s busy lifestyle it might seem quite tricky to make time out to clean your car. Nevertheless, an organized schedule can work out just fine and help you make your car look as good as new. Now, we all know that prevention is always better than cure, hence, if you are staying with kids lay some ground rules to keep you car clean such as no eating or drinking in the car.

Once you are done with the prevention bit, lets get down to the cleaning part. Start with the interiors of your car. Collect all the excess garbage like candy wrappers, tickets, papers and such which usually get accumulated in the car. Next, clean the carpets thoroughly to make them good as new. Finally make sure you work well underneath the seats with a vacuum cleaner to get rid of all the dust.

Once you are done with the interiors, shift your attention to the car exteriors. With a solution made with shampoo and water give your car a good scrub with a soft sponge. Make it a point that you use a soft sponge, or else you may leave behind scratches. Clean the doors, the windows, the mirrors thoroughly. Once you are done with that dry it with paper towels. Make sure you dry your car well or else it will leave behind nasty water marks. Now, that you are done with that drive away in glory with your car looking as good as new.

Would you really intend to call mechanic, which might take hours considering the distance of the mechanic from the spot? Sometimes, it’s good to know a few aspects about your car, which can be dealt for the time being by you. Changing car tires isn’t a big deal if you understand certain key points.

At all points of time, ensure that you have the car jack in your car, wherever you go. Also, you need to have an inflated spare tire and a lug wrench, which can fit in your lug bolts. In case you have all these tools, you shouldn’t worry about a flat tire anymore.

All you have to do is loosen the lug nuts with the wrench, jack up the car after that and remove the old wheel. Insert your new wheel and tighten the nuts back again. You are all set to go!

Winter is the season in which almost everybody gets the difficulty in driving car. It does not only have snow and ice to deal with but also there are fewer hours of daylight as well. Before the winter arrives, there are something’s which are to be kept in a mind. Your brakes should be adjusted, make sure that all the lights are in good working order and if you are not already using all-season oil then switch to winter-weight oil. Voltage and battery should be properly checked, make sure that the battery connections are good.

If a battery terminal post builds up a layer of corrosion then it should be cleaned with water and baking soda. Let it rinse with water and to prevent corrosion, thin film of petroleum should be applied to the terminal posts. Wiper blades should be cleaned properly. And one thing which is always kept in a mind is the only right way to warm up a vehicle is to drive it.

This section presents another three tips, which if followed, can ensure smooth functioning of your vehicle along with a longer engine life.

1. The next part of the vehicle maintenance is to ensure that all the fluids such as the brake oil and engine oil are changes before they are carbonized. Other fluids include power steering, windshield washer solvent and antifreeze, and trans-axle/transmission. These fluids ensure better performance of your car as well providing longer life to your vehicle.

2. Check the spark plug regularly. If it is coated with carbon, your fuel consumption may increase by some 40 per cent. If you feel that your vehicle is not starting properly, perform a quick check on the plug and clean it. If required, change the spark plug.

3. While most of the new cars offer maintenance free batteries, you should regularly check for the corrosion of the wires. Also, see to it that the wires do not loosen up over time. In case, your vehicle is not carrying a maintenance free battery, replace the water at regular interval as mentioned in the battery brochure.

You can also get a longer vehicle life. In this article, which is part one of the two article series, we present five topmost tips to keep your vehicle running smoothly.

1. Always study the user manual. This manual informs you about the minor errors that most cars face often. You get to know how to fix such problems. To enhance the engine life change the oil filter frequently, such as for each 3-4k miles.

2. Tires are the nest part of the car where you need to concentrate on. You should regularly check the air pressure. Lower pressure can cause more fuel consumption and provides more load on the engine. Check your tires weekly. Keep the air pressure as mentioned in the user manual.

<p style="text-align: <a href=;">You may have purchases a new car or an old one based on your choice and circumstances. The first point in auto care is the car insurance. If you have opted for a new one, check if the insurance the dealer provides is a good one.

Try to convince them to get the car insurance from some another company if you find that the insurance company associated is not a good one. This may be difficult but not impossible. No car dealer can afford to lose a customer on a small issue of insurance. If you bought a used car, you yourself need to find a good insurance company for your car.

Try to understand the minor engine bugs and learn how to fix them. They are not at all difficult if you follow the steps given in the user manual. It is recommended that you carry your user manual with you until you learn most of the tricks related to minor engine problems. Some of these can be locating and cleaning the spark plugs, replacing the ignition wires, checking the ventilation (air filters), and issues related to fuel.
