It is difficult to find a car that meets specific desert conditions as well as the desert terrain. This is because the desert has unlevelled sand and camouflaged sand dunes that can easily damage the car.

However, there are cars that are tailored to meet such conditions for instance, the Audi Allroad 2.5 Tdi is capable of holding a 7 litre-engine enables a power output of 180 or 162 bph thus allowing less fuel consumption. There are also sports utility vehicles (SUVs) which are designed for off road purposes and are yet fuel efficient. These include the Suzuki, Mitsubishi and Honda.

Four-wheel drives are also fuel efficient and are capable of travelling on all roads for example the 2006 Toyota 4Runner with V6 has a low fuel consumption of 21MPG, the Impreza Wagon, Subaru Outback, the Audi A4 and A6 wagons and also the Honda Element.

The proponents of diesel are quick to argue that the benefits of using diesel out weigh those of petrol by far though this is debatable.

Diesel is said to perform highly while emitting much lower emissions of carbon monoxide than petrol while engines run on petrol are less noise polluting and are cheap to repair.

But while petrol may be cheaper, its high carbon emissions and its being non-renewable make it less favorite especially since the world is slowly going green to reduce global warming.

It is however necessary to note that diesel is not without its disadvantages as it is more expensive and cars run on diesel are very noisy.

Perhaps the way forward in this debate is to acknowledge that while this two fuels have their faults; diesel is currently more favorable than petrol but just barely.

It is the time to get prepare for frosty mornings and icy driveways as winters are here. We generally hear in the news that water pipes are causing damage to homes and also to utilities but there is an asset that you never look when winter arrives and that is you car. First thing which you should do is get your car serviced. You should do twice or thrice in a year any way but in winters the important thing is that your car should be in good working condition.

Second thing which is to be kept in a mind is your car should be parked in a garage. Because you will be bother of that how you car will get start in the morning, so it should be considered that how and where your car is parked each night. If still you do not have a garage then a car pot can still be a good protection.

To avoid the freezing of doors and locks, apply some silicone spray around the trunk. Use some general purpose lubricants for the doors and locks. You can also use some dry lubricants coming in tubes for the latches. Lithium grease in small tubes is also a preferred solution. Use ice scarpers inside the car. Try to use a 50% anti-freeze with a 50% water mixture as a coolant for your car. Give special attention on the electrical system including battery since the battery falls when the temperature falls.

When you own a car, you should take special attention to notice very minute changes including smells, from your favorite vehicle. A musty odor from the car indicates that water is trapped under the carpet or so. An electric smoky smell means you should shut down the car. If there is an overflow of fuel inside the car, it will be shown as fuel smells. Exhaust smells mean that there is excess engine oil. You will get a sweatish smell from the car if the dynamo is to be replaced. If you feel a burning rubber smell, understand that tyres are over heated or you are driving with your breaks on.
